About Us
Thank you for your interest in The Cornerstone School. We are an independent School accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS) and the Florida Kindergarten Council (FKC). Our school services students and their families begining in Preschool and ending at the completion of 8th grade.
The Cornerstone School was founded in 1982 by a group of parents who desired an education for their children based on the whole child. This philosophy continues to be the building block on which our curriculum is placed today.
The school population is small; there are approximately 200 students from our 3-year-old preschool program through the 8th grade, and there is one class in each grade level.
The teacher-student ratio is a core aspect of our program, allowing us to support and challenge the individual student. In Preschool – 3 year olds and 4 – year old class the ratio is approximately 1:7, in the Elementary school the ratio is approximately 1:10 and in the Middle school the ratio is approximately 1:15. We teach in consideration of all learning styles but are not resourced for children who require remedial learning.
We are accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS) and the Florida Kindergarten Council (FKC). According to our accreditation requirements, all of our teachers are qualified within their field. We are also members of the National Association of Independent Schools. Information on the advantages of quality independent education is available on their website at www.nais.org
Our co-curricular program includes Spanish, PE, Music, Art and Ethics.
