Student Events

This year has been very busy for students of The Cornerstone School.  From Preschool to Eighth Grade, our students were on the move to Fantastic Field Trips.

Local Field Trips included visits to Butterfly Days for Hospice,  Cali Country Days, The Silver River State Park, Silver Springs, and Marion County Fire Department.  Sixth and Seventh Grades took their trail bikes to The Cross Florida Greenway for some outdoor adventure.

Overnight Trips kicked off in November with a bang.  Sixth Grade traveled to Pathfinder Cedarkirk for three days of adventure.   Always remember the raccoon circle, racing in the gold rush, creating fire with a bow, and the solo night walk.

Eighth Grade traveled to Festival of the Masters at Walt Disney World for a once in a lifetime trip.  Trip highlights included a fireworks cruise on The Seven Seas Lagoon, the animation program at Disney's Hollywood Studios, an ice cream party at Beaches and Cream Soda Fountain, and a wild surrey bike ride.  By the way.... Mr. Moseley, did you get my black Lez Paul?

Those Eighth Graders were off again in February.  Students flew into Knoxville,TN to attend a five day program at Great Smoky Mountains Institute.  The institute is located within The Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Our program included a geology hike through the mountains that led us to a hidden waterfall.  Unseasonably warm weather, 80 degrees our first day, allowed us to get our feet wet while participating in a stream bio-diversity study.  We even stood in two states at once while visiting Newfound Gap.

In March Fifth Grade took a Walk on the Wild Side at the Animal Kingdom.  Students learned about the animals and customs of Africa.  Shared memories include African Folk Tales at the firepit, Night Vision on the Savanna, and dinner in the jungle at Rainforest Cafe.  We saw gorillas and lions and bears - OH MY!

Will the Bard was center stage for Seventh Grade in April for Spotlight Shakespeare.  Students traveled to Orlando to participate in the annual Shakespeare Festival.  A performance of Much Ado About Nothing had everyone rolling in the aisles.  Also on the itinerary was an amazing performance of Cirque du Soleil La Nouba.  Next came a backstage, understage, overstage and behind the scenes tour at the La Nouba Theatre.  Mrs. Doyle is a master of the "diabolos".
