CORNERSTONE DAY CAMP
If you want your child to spend time outdoors then our camp program is perfect for your family. We encourage you to consider carefully the number of sessions your child should attend in our program. It is best to alternate the sessions with other camps.
Our camp serves elementary age children entering Kindergarten through entering 5th grade. Please register as campers. Our campers spend much of the day outside in the Florida warmth and exploring bugs in the natural environment.
If your child is entering middle school grades 6th-8th or high school grades 9-10th then consider our LEADS Program. We teach leadership skills and still enjoy all the amazing camp activities. Space is limited in this program.
Our day camp is located at The Cornerstone School, 2313 SE Lake Weir Avenue in Ocala, FL near Brick City Park. Our camp focuses on nurturing new and seasoned frienships and experiencing the natural environment. The climbing tree "Whisper" is the center of our camp activities.
Our top two specialized camp activities include Archery and Tree Climbing. These activities are offered twice each session. Other weekly activities offered at least once each session include Fort Building, Nature (Hiking and Animal Tracking), Wild Science, Amazing Art, Gold Panning, Lego Play, Sports (Kickball, Dodgeball) & Games (Capture the Flag, Four Corners, Museum), Camper Choice, Creative Cooking and Tribes (Teambuilding) and Swimming. Campers & LEADS participate in these activities during every session they attend.
LUNCH & SNACKS
Campers & LEADS bring their lunch and snacks and enjoy eating on tables either indoor or outdoors depending on the day. Every Monday campers select the menu for our weekly cookout and prepare the food over charcoal grills on Friday this year. The camp provides this Friday cookout meal as part of the tuition. On Wednesday we will going to the swimming pool down the street at Jervey Gantt from 12:00-1:50 (NEW POOL TIME). We will eat lunch at camp before we go to the pool. A bus will be our transportation.
Our 2014 summer theme is Mystery Quest . This summer will be filled with clues, myteries and detective strategies. Our six weekly themes ($135 per session) in 2014 are: Session 1- June 9-13 CLUE, Session 2- June 16-20 Lost Coins, Session 3- June 23-27 Secret Envelopes, Session 4- July 7-11 Kid Detectives, Session 5- July 14-18 Color Games, Session 6- July 21-25 Captial Mystery. The day camp and school office will be closed July 2-6. Our weekly themes will have a special activity every afternoon.

STAFF & SUPERVISION
Our day camp staff spend a week in training prior to the start of camp. The staff are trained as Archery Instructors and have certifications in CPR & First Aid. Our director has training and experience leading Tree Climbing and staff assist. Our youngest group is called Adventure and is filled with rising Kindergartners - 2nd graders. Our older group is called Horizon and is filled with rising *2nd-5th graders. Each group will be supervised by two trained day camp staff members. We have small groups of 12-13 campers on purpose because we want to have quality time in our camp activities. Our total camp capacity each session is 24-26 campers and 2-4 LEADS. We look for staff members who enjoy teaching children, serve as positive role models, and enjoy playing with campers in all kinds of weather. The staff application is now available. Be sure to ask your references to complete the staff reference form in a timely matter to be considered for a position.
