Weekly News!

I hope everyone had a great week!  It’s the holidays!  I hope everyone has a wonderful break!  Staff will be back January 4th.  School returns January 5th!

Winter Sing

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the Winter Sing so special yesterday!  Everyone did a fantastic job and the cookies were delicious and enjoyed by all.

As part of Computer Science Education Week, The Cornerstone School participated in the world wide event...HOUR OF CODE.  The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in over 189 countries.

All of our students, Kindergarten - Eighth Grade, successfully displayed their coding skills as part of this program.  We are proud of our students that are beginning to understand the power of computational thinking.

So why do we code?

Computer science drives innovation throughout the US economy, but it remains marginalized throughout K-12 education. Only 28 states allow students to count computer science courses toward high school graduation.  There are currently 604,689 open computing jobs nationwide. Last year, only 38,175 computer science students graduated into the workforce.   -

The Stem Department would like to thank the faculty and staff for adjusting their class schedule so that ALL students could take part in this program during the last week (Dec. 7 - 11).  Thanks to the many Middle School students that took the time to assist their classmates during this event:

STEM Thank You's

As we approach the end of the calendar year and the end of our robotics season, The Cornerstone School would like to take the time to thank those that have given so much of their time to make our STEM programs such a success.   Without the support of wonderful parents and faculty members there is no way that we would be able to offer so many STEM programs to our students.  While there is still so much to come in the second half of the school year it is never too early or too much to say THANK YOU and have a safe and happy holiday season.

Cornerstone Yearbook 2015-2016

If you are interested in an ad or a sponsorship, all information and money must be turned in by February 1, 2016!

BUSINESS OWNERS:  If you or someone you know owns or operates a business, the Cornerstone yearbook is a spectacular place to advertise and show support for the school at the same time!

PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS, FRIENDS, and FAMILY:  Yearbook advertisements are not just good for businesses!  They are also a great way to show your support for your child and the school.  In the past, parents have bought ad space and designed it with pictures, words of love and wisdom, and more.  Yearbook ads are also a special way of recognizing your graduating 8th or 5th grader!

The rates are as follows:

     Full page - $200.00      Half Page - $110.00     Quarter Page - $ 60.00     Business Card - $ 35.00

Make checks payable to Cornerstone School and in the Memo area of the check, please designate “yearbook ad.”  Submit your check with your ad to the Business Office.

Families may now sponsor any page in the yearbook.  To do so, email Mrs. Giles (Urban) and specify which page you would like to sponsor.  (i.e. – the chili cookoff page, the 7th grade candid page, etc.) Sponsorships are available on a first come, first served basis.  If there is a specific page you want to sponsor, EMAIL MRS. GILES (URBAN) FIRST and submit your payment to the business office in order to secure your page.

EXAMPLE:  A sponsorship will read:  This page sponsored by the Smith Family or This page sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Jones and will be located at the bottom of the page.

The cost of sponsoring a page is $100.00.

Thank you in advance for your support in making this the best yearbook ever!

If you have any questions, email Mrs. Giles at
