How is everyone doing?  The Cornerstone Leads the Way 5K is here!  It is not too late to sign up!  We are doing a packet pickup at the school until 5:30 PM for those that have registered.  You can sign up at the school today if you have missed out and get your packet early as well. You can also signup tomorrow at the race between 6:30 and 7:30 AM and get your packets then.  The race will start at 8:00 AM sharp.  So what’s been going on at Cornerstone? 

Spirit Day

Friday, September 30th is our first Spirit Day of the year! The theme will be Friday Fabulous USA, you can wear USA colors or symbols! Please bring canned food and nonperishable items to be donated to Interfaith if you would like to participate in the spirit day.

Hurricane Makeup Day Reminder

The Hurricane day from Friday, September 2nd will be made up on Tuesday, October 18th (originally a Teacher Workday).


The race is here!  You can still sign up! The date is TOMORROW Saturday, September 24th, 2016 at Baseline Trailhead Park (The Greenway). The race will start at 8:00AM and the "Fun Walk" will start immediately after.  We are doing a packet pickup at the school today until 5:30 PM. We are very excited this year as we are now part of the Big Hammock Race Series!  This is the same series that has the Ocala Turkey Trot, Reindeer Run, and St. Paddy's Day Run!  Our race is "leading the way" as the first race of the upcoming season. 

The cost is $30.00 on race day and we will open registration at 6:30 AM in the morning and it will run until 7:30 AM.  The cost will include a dry fit shirt (sizes are not guaranteed after September 9th), race medal (first 300 finishers), Goody Bags, and more.

 The Ocala GIRLS WHO CODE club began their third year of operation last week (Tuesday, Sept. 20) with a short organizational meeting.  

Official meetings will begin this coming Tuesday (Sept. 27).

  • Where:  The Cornerstone School STEM Lab
  • When: Tuesday, Sept. 27
  • Schedule:  
    • 6:00 - 6:30  Dinner will be served
    • 6:30 - 7:15 Coding Class
    • 7:15 - 7:30  Delicious dessert
    • 7:30 - 8:15 Coding Class


  • The Ocala GIRLS WHO CODE Club is part of The Cornerstone School's outreach program.  It is free of charge and open to Cornerstone students and non-Cornerstone students.  
  • Part of our mission is to provide technology skills for those girls that may not have access to STEM education.   In the past two years we have had students from seven different public and independent schools in the Marion County area.
  • The club is open to middle school AND high school aged girls (6th - 12th grade).  Cornerstone students and parents...reach out and invite any girls that you know that may be interested in such an opportunity
  • This is a GIRLS ONLY club.


ROBOTICS SCHEDULE for the coming week (Sept. 26-30)


FIRST LEGO LEAGUE - Grades 4 - 8

  • Monday (Sept. 26)
    • If you are on a Monday team you will practice from 3:15 - 4:45.  Monday robotics students should know who you are.  Some teams have formed already (Juice of Saphoo) and some are still getting their team together.  We will have delicious snacks.
  • Thursday (Sept. 29)
    • If you are on a Thursday team you will practice from 3:15 - 4:45.  Thursday robotics students should know who you are. Some teams have formed already (Red Hot Chili Bots, Robotic Beavers) and some are still getting their team together.  We will have delicious snacks.  


  • Wednesday (Sept.28)
    • Our team will participate in the Jr. FLL organizational meeting and then continue to prepare for the ROBOTICON event in Tampa.   
    • We will of course have delicious snacks.


  • Wednesday (Sept. 28) 
    • We will have an organizational meeting from 3:15 - 4:00.  
    • We will have teams on both Wednesday and Friday teams for the coming season.  Parents/students need to think about which day is best for them. 
    • Delicious snacks will be provided
