WEEKLY NEWS LETTER 3/31

I hope everyone had a nice week!  Robofest was today and we would like to thank everyone who came out in support of this wonderful school event.  The Cornerstone Yard Sale is tomorrow at the Cornerstone School so we hope to see everyone there!  Finally, our Boots and Bling Auction is a week from tonight at Golden Ocala!  If you haven’t signed up yet do so here! 

Yard Sale

It is that time again for the 5th annual Cornerstone Yard Sale to benefit our sister school in Honduras (abroad charity) and the Children’s Home Society (local charity). The Yard Sale will be tomorrow, April 1st from 7:30a.m.- 2:00p.m. If you have any questions, email Mrs. Hager at jhager@thecornerstoneschool.org or Ms. Margarita at mrossello@thecornerstoneschool.org.

EYE GLASSES

We are collecting used eye glasses for the Lions Club!  Please bring them in and drop them off in the office if you have any you would like to donate!

I am happy to announce that the Fourth Annual Cornerstone School ROBOFEST Tournament was a fabulous success!!

There were ten teams competing in three different categories!  (ROBO HIT, BOTTLE SUMO, EXHIBITION)

 This tournament is held in partnership with Marion Technical Institute - Technology Academy.  We want to thank Mr. Dale Toney, Director of the MTI Technology Academy for helping us with this event and providing us with a such a great venue.

Note: With the conclusion of our ROBOFEST event, we have concluded our 2016-17 Robotics Season.  There are no more practices or events scheduled for the rest of the school year.

Junior Engineering

Have you ever been blasted by a VORTEX CANNON???  Many of our Junior Engineering Club members have!

Our second JUNIOR ENGINEERING event took place on Wednesday (3/29) and we had a great time making take home Vortex Cannons

Who knew compressed air could provide so much fun.  The Middle School courtyard area was filled with smoke rings and air blasts.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, April 5.  What will we be up to at this meeting?

BOOTS AND BLING is a week away The event is a “adults only” event and will be held at Golden Ocala on April 7th, 2017. 

Cocktail hour & Silent Auction will start at 6:00 PM and will run until 7:30pm

Dinner 7:30pm-8pm

Live Auction Items

1. Longboat Key  3 days and 2 nights at Sarasota's only AAA four diamond beachfront resort, comes with a luxury suite.  Enjoy the privacy and exclusivity of the resort as you take in the warmth of Sarasota while relaxing poolside and sipping custom cocktails delivered right to your chair.

3. Martha’s Vineyard - One week stay in Martha’s Vineyard, the beautiful island south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  Enjoy the beautiful beaches, explore many museums, light house tours, and more.  The house is available for a one week stay in September or October 2017 (subject to availability).  The house sleeps 10 and is great for two  families.

4. Clearwater Townhouse –One week stay Saturday through Saturday in a 4 story townhouse on Clearwater Beach.  The townhouse is a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom, fully furnished home for a maximum of 6 people to enjoy.  There are four floors connected by stairs as well as a private elevator.  Enjoy the rooftop level with your own personal hot tub.  There also is a community pool that is shared by 8 units.  Short walk to Clearwater Beach, Pier 60, and the Jolly Trolley which takes you around the area.  To be used between June 1st and October 1st, 2017.

5. Lake Weir Getaway— 2 night stay at a 3    bedroom farm guest house on Lake Weir with    private beach.  Access to horseback riding,    animal interaction, water sports, boat tour, and more.  Homemade lunch or dinner at the antique farm store will be provided. .

6. Racewash Carwash unlimited Car Washes— An entire year of unlimited car washes from Raceway Carwash!   

7. Drake Ranch Adventure—A day adventure at the Drake Ranch off of 200.  Includes kayaking, swimming, and a guided tour of old Florida.

14.) Original Portrait- Gocetona de Villa Paraiso (2017)

Artist: Ms. Manuela Echeverri

This is a portrait of a Paso Fino mare that is a three time Grand National Champion with Cornerstone’s own Micaela Gomez.  Ms. Echeverri is a pop artist from Pereira, Columbia who is a friend of the Gomez family.  She describes her technique as acrylic on canvas using spatulas.  She is quoted as saying, "Art is the reflection of the feelings that we carry inside, where each stroke of painting becomes one more piece of our puzzle" Est. Retail. $25,000.00

 RAFFLE TICKETS

We will once again be raffling off a special trip to the vacation of your choice this year.  Raffle tickets will be $100.00 and we will be selling only a 100 of them to give everyone a great shot at winning. These trips retail between $5,000-$10,000.  The three trips you will have to choose from are as follows:

1.) Puntacana Resort and Caribbean Paradise Trip in the Dominican Republic

This trip is a Caribbean escape. The trip includes a 4 night stay at the Puntacana Resort and Club which is ideally located in the Playa Blanca area of the impressive 15,000-acre Puntacana Resort with shuttle service throughout the club and resort area. This trip includes airfare for 2.  Golf fans can experience the top destination for golf in the Caribbean and Latin America.

2.) Become a Sonoma Valley Winemaker!

This is a 3 night stay at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa.  The trip includes daily breakfast for 2, an intimate blending seminar for 2 at the Imagery Estate Winery in Sonoma, a tour and tasting for 2 at Chateau St. Jean, Sonoma, a tour and tasting for 2 at the Benziger Family winery, Sonoma, as well as roundtrip tickets for two to San Francisco or Oakland, CA.

3.) Lake Tahoe Weekend Getaway

We are doing a 50/50 the night of the event as well.  50/50 tickets are $1 and you can get 25 tickets for $20.00. 

Playing Deck Cards

We are also selling playing deck cards for $10 from one pack.  Winning card receives a two night stay at The Fountains in Orlando or the Grand Villas in St. Augustine
