Specialty CAMPS

Cornerstone offers several Specialty Camps for children ages 6 and up. Campers can choose from STEM, Dance, Art, and Coding-themed camps.

STEM Camps

 

innovation & DESIGN CHALLENGE camps

Campers will be given a large weekly challenge. They will spend the week designing, building, and testing their creations. They will have to design their project on paper and in CAD and complete the project with the given materials and tools. There will also be multiple smaller engineering and team-building activities throughout the week.

Session I: Room Makeover

Ever wanted to design your own room? In this camp, your camper will get to design, model, and build a mock bedroom. Explore scaling and model building to meet the needs of your fictional clients. HGTV, here we come!

Session II: Mini Golf Mania

Like mini-golf? In this challenge, you will have 4 days to build the mini-golf course of your dreams, complete with windmills, tunnels, and whatever you dream of. Come and make a hole-in-one with us this summer on your own golf course.

Grades: Rising 6th  - Rising 10th

DRONE CODING DJI/RYZE Tello

Like drones? Like to code? Come code some DJI Tellos and see what happens with autonomous flight. Students will learn to use code using Drones to complete fully atomized procedures and choreographed maneuvers.

SCRATCH CAMP

This camp is designed for beginner to intermediate Scratch users. Design games, and build an app. Let’s see how far we can build your Scratch skills!

DANCE CAMPS

 

Dance Camp

This summer, Cornerstone will offer several Dance Camps for dancers of all skill levels. Choreographed dances will be performed on Fridays. A list of suggested dance attire will be provided after registration closes. 

JUNIOR SESSIONS

In these camps, dancers will build skills in multiple styles of dance all while having fun. This camp is intended for dancers of multiple skill levels, from beginner to more advanced dancers. Each week will have a themed dance recital that will be broadcast live on Fridays. These camps are weekly camps and some skills will be repeated, but themes and styles of dance will change from week to week.

Session I: June 6 - 10
Session II: June 13 - 17
Session III: June 20- 24
Session IV:  June 27 - July 1
Grades: Kindergarten - Rising 3rd
Spaces Available: 20 per session
Cost: $225 per session

 

SENIOR SESSIONS

Dancers will build skills in multiple styles of dance all while having fun. This camp is intended for dancers of multiple skill levels, from moderately experienced dancers to more advanced dancers. Each week will have a themed dance recital that will be broadcast live on Fridays. These camps are weekly camps and some skills will be repeated, but themes and styles of dance will change from week to week.

Grades: Rising 4th - Rising 8th

SENIOR BALLET AND MODERN INTENSIVE

This is a two-week ballet and modern intensive. Participants in this camp should have experience in ballet and either be in pointe or pre-pointe shoes. Dancers will work on technique and form as well as multiple dance numbers to be live-streamed at the end of camp.

ART CAMP

Ever walked by one of Ocala’s beautifully painted horses and said, “I love to try that?” This is your chance! In partnership with the local artist Vanessa Fuller-Brown, we are excited to offer this new camp at Cornerstone this summer! Campers in this year’s art camp will get to explore different styles and themes of painting with our adjunct art teacher, Ms. Vanessa Fuller-Brown of the Appleton Museum. She will help your camper generate ideas and execute their ideas on large cougar (The Cornerstone School’s mascot) statues. These statues will be on display at The Cornerstone School campus, and one lucky cougar will get auctioned off to the highest bidder. Get ready to paint and explore your imagination at this camp.

CODING CAMP

These camps are 7-week courses that are designed to truly enhance the coding ability of our future software and game designers.

Computer Coding Concepts Academy

This camp is designed to be a significant learning experience for students who have little to no computer programming experience. The classes will cover many of the major programming concepts and strive to build excitement about coding to encourage students to make programming an enjoyable lifetime hobby. The class will use SCRATCH as the main programming language and will include an introduction to the PYTHON language. This camp will be held Monday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon for 7 weeks.

Dates: June 6 - July 29  (No Camp week of July 4)
Grades: Rising 5th - 10th

Computer Coding Essentials Academy

The objective of Computer Programming Essentials would be to provide real programming skills for students who may want to consider computer programming as a potential career opportunity. The class will use PYTHON as the programming language. This camp will require CODING BOOT CAMP #1: Computer Programming Concepts or equivalent experience as a prerequisite. If you feel your camper meets these requirements, please contact Camp Director Dan Peterson before registration to assess skill level: dpeterson@thecornerstoneschool.org.
